After a rather shocking Season 8, there was no other way to get my Game of Thrones fix. I decided to alleviate some of that withdrawal by coming up with my own arrangement of the opening theme. This was done on an old Casio CLK model keyboard bought in 1999 - the MIDI might sound dated, but the wide range of instruments gives it versatility that remains relevant till today.

I played Francis Poulenc's novelette in my ATCL programme in December 2010. How time flies! Today, I still recall this set of 3 pieces fondly because they bring back warm memories of my years as a young adult.

The video here shows the first novelette in C major, which sports a rather light and dreamy texture. The melody takes a slightly darker turn, but it uses this to explore new keys, and then resumes its bright cheeriness. A trajectory of resilience, the way I see it.
